Town approves $2.55 million contract to rebuild parks building and sign shop after debate
Summary
After debate about scope and cost, the board awarded TA25-12A (Parks Building and Sign Shop Facility Reconstruction) to Peter Camilli & Sons for up to $2,548,000, citing prior bid reductions and use of a project labor agreement to contain costs; one board member opposed the award on cost grounds.

The Town Board voted Nov. 19 to award TA25-12A — the Parks Building and Sign Shop Facility Reconstruction — to Peter Camilli & Sons (add alternate 2 included) for an amount not to exceed $2,548,000.
Meredith (staff) said this was the third time the project had been bid and that value-engineering and a project labor agreement (PLA) had reduced costs. The board heard that the original RFP pricing had been as high as $3.5 million; members said bonding was in place and the debt service would not affect the current year's tax levy. One board member said they would vote against the award, arguing the town should further consider lower-cost interim options (for example, renting additional trailers at about $15,000 per year) rather than taking on debt-service estimated at roughly $150,000 annually. Proponents said the current building is unsafe and that consolidating operations will increase productivity and long-term value.
After discussion the board resolved to award the contract and authorized the town administrator to execute accompanying documents.
