The Town Board adopted a local law Nov. 19 prohibiting parking within 40 feet of the driveway serving 16 North Chatsworth Avenue after residents described frequent near-collisions and sight-line obstructions caused by delivery vehicles and parked cars.
Bart Sages, who said he is president of the board at 16 North Chatsworth, told the board that exiting the building's driveway for a left turn is hazardous when large trucks or other vehicles park in the marked area. Resident Richard Softness (self-identified) said the building's lot holds about 100 cars and many seniors live there; he recommended permanent vertical posts in addition to a painted no-parking zone to prevent truck parking and improve safety.
Board members said they would follow up, including checking whether temporary cones or permanent posts are feasible and noted staff had already reviewed documenting the location in the town's vehicle-and-traffic code. After closing the public hearing the board adopted the law as presented.
