Riverhead board approves long slate of capital, personnel and event resolutions

Riverhead — On June 16 the Town Board approved a long list of resolutions covering capital project closures, personnel appointments, special-event permits, license agreements and other routine municipal business.
Clerk Jim Wooten read a slate of resolutions that were moved, seconded and adopted in sequence. The packet included capital project closure resolutions (for projects such as Town Square properties, downtown revitalization, EPCAL emergency access, pave-New-York and extreme weather recovery projects), water and sewer district capital project closures, several personnel appointments and ratifications (including water treatment and highway personnel), and authorizations for short-term agreements and special events.
Notable items approved or ratified included:
- Resolution 2026-602 (pulled earlier in the meeting) promoting Cole Monafusco and Travis Wooten to the rank of sergeant (sworn in during the meeting). - Resolution 620, adopting a local law amending Chapter 213 (Bicycles and Electric Scooters). - Resolution 627, approving an agreement with Windship Media LLC for parking and police services for the 2026 "Jazz in the Vines" event. - Resolution 628, authorizing legal action against 400 David Court LLC. - Resolution 631, issuing a SEQRA negative declaration in part and denying in part a site plan amendment application for Scots Point (Island Water Park).
Most resolutions were adopted by recorded unanimous votes; a small number of items recorded an abstention. The board also approved special-event permits for Summerfest and other community concerts and ratified fireworks authorizations for the Riverhead Raceway.
What happens next: Many of the adopted resolutions are administrative and implement previously authorized projects or contractual arrangements. Several items (personnel appointments, event permits and legal authorizations) are effective immediately per the resolutions.
