That doesn't look good." He and other speakers told council that many downtown tenants rely on informal arrangements or landlords said parking was not strictly enforced, and urged the city to implement or expand a permit program first so residents can secure legal parking options before citations are issued.
Karen Goldman also told council that neighborhood renters had little notice beyond a single social‑media post and had not received clear staff responses about which streets would be enforced. Staff responded from the dais that the city has an established administrative process for penalties and that the city attorney will review appeals; council members said staff would follow up with residents and that permit programs can be considered.
Council did not take immediate action on the comments; staff advised residents to submit concerns through the city's channels and indicated outreach and program details are available via the city website.
