Duncan council approves park contracts, buys two dump trucks and empowers manager on health insurance

The Duncan Common Council on April 10 unanimously approved a series of procurement motions, authorized two dump-truck purchases and granted the town manager authority to choose a health-insurance provider.
Mayor Blake moved to empower Town Manager Hinton to select a health insurance company from the bids reviewed; Vice Mayor Smith seconded the motion, which the council approved unanimously. The council then approved several park-related contracts: Vice Mayor Smith moved to award the park tables and benches bid to Tree Frogs, and Mayor Blake moved to award Tree Frogs the park exercise-equipment contract; Council Member Wearne moved to award the purchase-and-install playground equipment contract to Tucson Playground Co. All motions were seconded and passed unanimously.
The council also approved a bid from Lunt Construction to remodel the park restrooms, again by unanimous vote.
On vehicle procurement, Council Member Wearne moved to approve the bid from Hulk Equipment for a 2003 Freightliner 5-yard dump truck; the council also accepted a separate bid from “Joe in Yucaipa, CA” for a 2012 Freightliner 10-yard dump truck. Both motions were seconded and passed unanimously.

The council briefly discussed the FY 2025–2026 proposed budget and noted that the tax levy will be reduced; the body set its next regular meeting for May 7 at 4:00 p.m. and plans to consider the tentative budget at that session and pass the final budget and levy on June 12.
