Drexel Heights plans May dedication for new Prince Administration Center; move slated for early May

District staff told the board on Feb. 28 that construction of the new Prince Administration Center is on schedule and that staff are planning an open-house dedication for Friday, May 29, 2020.
Chief Douglas Chappell said the essentials of electrical and drywall work are complete, data cabling is nearly finished and exterior stucco and finish work remain. Mr. Hugh McCrystal will escort board members on a site walkthrough after the meeting and staff told the board furnishings are scheduled for delivery the week of May 4, with a likely brief disruption as staff completes the move.
Staff described safety requirements for the site tour (hard hat and reflective vest) and said the first Board meeting in the new facility is likely to take place on May 22. A dedication plaque draft circulated in the packet reads in part: “Dedicated to the residents and leaders of the Drexel Heights Community Association and their first Fire Chief Albert Prince for their vision and dedication to the safety of the community.”
The board did not take formal action on the dedication plan at the Feb. 28 meeting; staff requested input and confirmed they would finalize arrangements with CORE Construction and WSM Architects as move-in and furnishing schedules are confirmed.
