Douglas council convenes closed session to consider strategic property investments and two parcel matters

The City of Douglas Mayor and Council voted 6-0 Feb. 11 to meet in executive session to discuss potential real property transactions and related legal advice.

At 4:30 p.m. Mayor Jose Grijalva called the special meeting to order. City Clerk Alma Andrade said no public participation forms had been submitted for items not on the agenda. The council then considered three closed-session items under Arizona Revised Statutes 38-431.03: one on prospective strategic investments in real property within the community (subsections A(1), A(4) and A(7)), a second concerning the potential sale of vacant land at 1150 E. 9th Street (A(3), A(4) and A(7)), and a third addressing the property at 1300 N. San Antonio Avenue and a bid the city received for that parcel (A(3), A(4) and A(7)).

Council Member Melissa Rodriguez moved and Council Member Maria Dillman seconded a motion to enter executive session at 4:32 p.m.; the motion passed by a vote of 6-0. The minutes list those voting in favor as Mayor Jose Grijalva and Council Members Melissa Rodriguez, Jose Montaño, Gustavo Durazo Jr., Maria Dillman and Richard C. Acosta; no members voted against the motion. The executive session adjourned at 5:28 p.m. The subsequent open meeting was adjourned at 5:29 p.m. after a motion by Council Member Montaño and a second by Council Member Dillman.
