Manager Elliott confirmed a state BHAR application has been submitted and said, to the board’s understanding, the federal funding for the project remains available.
During citizens forum, Gerry Brown of La Mott Citizens United pressed for details: "When are the contractors being selected and when will they start to evaluate the conditions in the building?" Brown also asked specifically about "the status of the $3.8 million given the delays." Manager Elliott replied that bids are expected to be posted in early July, that bids would be evaluated after submission, and that the federal funds referenced remain allocated to the project. Staff committed to follow up with a more detailed timeline and to coordinate a site pre-bid meeting once the OpenGov posting is live.
Residents and commissioners urged urgency. Commissioner Chirico said the board does not want bidding delayed further and encouraged staff to bring in any necessary resources to meet the July goal. Re:Vision emailed staff that bids could be returned by the end of July if posted July 1.
What’s next: staff will post the La Mott bid documents to OpenGov, schedule any pre-bid meetings, and provide updates at committee meetings (public works and building & zoning meetings were suggested for July 1). Funding and contract award timing will depend on bid submissions and standard procurement review.
