Lisbon Farmers' Market opening delayed two weeks as committee reorganizes leadership

The Farmers' Market Committee in Lisbon voted unanimously June 15 to delay the market’s opening two weeks, moving the first day from Thursday, June 25 to Thursday, July 9, 2026, citing the recent resignation of the Market Master and a shortage of volunteers to staff the season.

The special meeting, called to order by Vice Chairman Cheryle Jolly at 6:03 p.m. at Lisbon Town Hall, included members Elizabeth Azevedo, Doreen Pack and Rich Ruppel. Committee members said they intend to keep the market layout the same as last year and indicated they may forgo a separate parking attendant if volunteer staffing remains limited.

Member Elizabeth Azevedo moved to postpone the opening; the motion was seconded by Rich Ruppel and carried unanimously. The committee framed the delay as a short postponement to allow time to clarify roles left open by the Market Master’s resignation and to recruit volunteers for essential posts.

The committee used the meeting to reorganize leadership for the season. Cheryle Jolly nominated Elizabeth Azevedo to replace Rich Ruppel as Secretary; the motion was seconded by Ruppel and approved unanimously. The committee then nominated Rich Ruppel to serve as Market Master to replace L. Sweet, who has resigned; that nomination also passed by unanimous vote. Jolly subsequently nominated herself as Chair to replace L. Sweet; the committee approved the nomination. Finally, Jolly nominated Doreen Pack as Vice-Chair to fill the vacancy created by Jolly’s elevation; that nomination was approved unanimously.

A motion to adjourn by Elizabeth Azevedo, seconded by Rich Ruppel, was approved and the meeting ended at 7:32 p.m. The minutes record a signatory line listing "Kacen Karen Arremony" as the approving clerk on the document.
