Gateway SD board approves vendor awards, YMCA sponsorship and Spectrum Charter relocation effective Aug. 1, 2026

At its June meeting, the Gateway School District board reviewed and approved several administrative resolutions for the 2026–27 school year, including afterschool program leases, a sponsor-to-sponsor agreement with the YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh, and the relocation of Spectrum Charter School from 4369 Northern Pike, Monroeville to 1740 Golden Mount Highway, Monroeville, effective Aug. 1, 2026.
Under Section 8 staff recommended Dollar Bank as the district depository for a one-year period in accordance with Pennsylvania School Code section 621 and discussed continued investment of district funds under section 440.1 of the Pennsylvania public school code. The administration also reviewed insurance renewals and premium payments for the coming fiscal year.
Procurement awards for food services included awarding the bread and bakery product bid to Nicholls Bakery and the milk and dairy bid to Turner Dairy Farms, Inc. Staff noted the district received only one sealed bid for each of those categories; administrators explained that vendors that bid are equipped to handle very large volumes (the district feeds close to 4,000 students per day). Board members asked whether price changes from last year were substantial; staff said prices were comparable with minimal differences.
The board discussed transportation implications of Spectrum’s relocation and whether bus routes would need adjustment; administration said the move could impact routes and that logistics would be reviewed. The actions were presented for approval as routine business.
