Wetumpka council approves MOU to adopt countywide sports-complex scheduling software

The Wetumpka City Council voted to approve a memorandum of understanding to adopt a shared scheduling system for the city's sports complex, after a city staff member described how the platform will increase visibility across county facilities while preserving local control.

"The software allows us to better schedule our facilities inside the city," Richard, a city staff member, told the council during the work session, saying the platform would expose facility availability across Elmore County and the board of education. "It doesn't change who owns the scheduling — we still have full control of scheduling our facilities," he added.

Council members asked whether the new system would replace the city's current scheduling software and whether it matched the county's platform. Richard confirmed the MOU would replace the city's present scheduling application but would not replace the county's sales system, and that the product handles two of the three operational aspects the city uses. He also noted the CivicRec option (a CivicPlus product) had been considered earlier but the chosen approach was a different, less expensive option.
