Wetumpka council approves change order for downtown parking and restroom improvements

The Wetumpka City Council on Tuesday approved change order No. 1 for a downtown parking and restroom facilities improvement project, moving the item forward after a brief presentation from staff.

City staff introduced the change order as part of the council's new-business items. "No, just on the project — we don't have any contingency there," Ashley, a city staff member, stated when asked for further detail about funding or contingency amounts. The council entertained a motion, received a second and approved the minutes and the change order by voice vote with no opposition recorded.

The change order was presented as an amendment to an ongoing downtown improvements project; staff noted prior issues that prompted the adjustment but did not provide a detailed contingency or dollar amount during the work session. The council voted to approve the change order and the item was scheduled to return to the council agenda at the next meeting for additional action or implementation steps.

Council members present at roll call before the vote were Council member Robin, Council member Tucker, Council member Justice, Council member Gan, Council member Brown and Mayor Willis. The council gave unanimous voice approval to the change order as presented during the meeting.
