Council adds Lantern Lane–Doe Street three‑way stop measure to agenda for first reading

Mayor Jody Carney summarized resident complaints about speeding and motorists passing stopped school buses. Village Administrator Haley Lupton and Police Chief Dale McKee said a three‑way stop is allowed under Ohio law and that Chief McKee preferred stop signs to speed bumps because bumps can harm first‑responder vehicles. Lupton said additional stop signs and crosswalk paint are expected to be the only costs; staff will install an additional crosswalk across Lantern Lane if needed.
Councilmember Aaron Lewis moved to amend the agenda and add Resolution 16‑2026, "Declaring the Intersection of Lantern Lane and Doe Street to be a Three Way Stop and Authorizing the Installation of Traffic Control Devices," and Councilmember Jamey Sintz seconded. The motion passed by voice vote (all in favor). The first reading of Resolution 16‑2026 was later confirmed on the agenda.
Council directed staff to proceed with the drafting of the resolution for formal consideration and noted the signs can be removed if they do not deliver the intended safety improvements.
