Gunnison Planning Commission unanimously approves two home-occupation business licenses

Gunnison — The Gunnison Planning Commission on Aug. 27 unanimously approved two home-occupation business licenses, allowing a 3D-printing service and a traveling welding business to operate with conditions that each comply with the city’s business-license and home-occupation standards.
The approvals came during a regularly scheduled meeting at City Council Chambers. Commissioner Vern Miller moved to approve a home-occupation license for Imagin3D Printing, proposed by Nicole Christiansen to operate from 85 South 330 East; Commissioner Jill White seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The application described Imagin3D Printing as a provider of rapid prototyping, custom manufacturing and low-volume production targeted at small and medium-sized enterprises, hobbyists and individual entrepreneurs in sectors including engineering, healthcare and consumer products.
Commissioner Steven Saulter moved to approve a home-occupation license for Young Welding LLC, owned by Tyson Young and based at 490 S. Rock Creek Drive; Commissioner Ardella Peterson seconded and the motion passed unanimously. According to the application, Young Welding will provide mobile welding services to agricultural, residential, commercial and industrial clients and will perform all welding work offsite; the residence will be used only as a business office for administrative tasks and equipment management.
City Administrator Dennis Marker reported during the staff reports that the city is working to clarify its home-occupation standards to ensure consistent application and enforcement for future applicants. No public comments were recorded during the meeting’s public-forum portion.
