One commissioner said a prior shift in course last year had raised public concern and suggested mechanisms such as deed restrictions or supermajority voting be considered to preserve city-owned parcels.
Staff told the commission a desktop estimate for an ecological study was roughly in the $50,000 range and that some deed records show recorded restrictions on at least portion(s) of the property. A resident representing Save Boynton's Forest said county parcel records and a forwarded county email indicate many parcels have deed restrictions and that a recording error might explain gaps in the public record. Commission direction: place the matter on a future agenda so legal staff and county coordination can be brought forward and so the commission can consider options (study, deed restrictions, or other preservation mechanisms).
