Stone Park officials present plan to move 9-1-1 dispatch to Cook County; Resolution 26-01 introduced

Trustee Loretta J. Teets presented Resolution 26-01 authorizing an agreement with the Cook County Emergency Telephone System Board and introduced an intergovernmental agreement with Cook County (on behalf of the Cook County Sheriff's Office) to move the village's 9-1-1 dispatch to the county system.

Director of Public Safety Chris Pavini told the Board he recently met with Melrose Park and recommended Stone Park adopt the same Cook County dispatch service. Pavini said the change "would result in significant savings for the Village, with costs projected at $112,000 per year and less than a 2% annual increase," and that the agreement would include free radios and in-car computers. He said he and his administrative assistant visited the operations center and expressed optimism the service would improve emergency dispatch capacity.

Fire Marshal Eugenio Mazzulla said annual fire and health inspections have begun and that the transition will require coordination for alarm systems: "Customers who currently have alarm connections with Norcomm will need to arrange service with a third-party provider depending on their existing contracts," he said. Mazzulla added he will work with Director Pavini to ensure the Fire Marshal's required equipment is included in planning.

Trustee Loretta Teets introduced the intergovernmental agreement and said the Board would be asked to consider approval at the board meeting that evening. The minutes record the presentations and discussion but do not record a formal vote on Resolution 26-01 or the intergovernmental agreement during this committee meeting.
