Clerk Michelle Solomon told the board on June 15 that the county must adopt a resolution calling a public hearing, publish notice and file a sworn statement of debt and statement of disclosure under North Carolina General Statutes to proceed with a general obligation school bond. The bond order presented authorizes issuance of $17 million in school bonds.
The clerk requested three motions: (1) adopt the resolution calling a public hearing on the bond order to be held July 6, 2026 at 6 p.m.; (2) direct the clerk to publish the public‑hearing notice in the June 25, 2026 edition of the Courier Times; and (3) authorize the filing of the sworn statement of debt and statement of disclosure with the Local Government Commission. The board made the motions and approved all three actions by voice vote.
What’s next: The public hearing on the bond order will be held July 6 at 6 p.m. in the commissioners’ meeting room; the clerk will publish the notice and file the sworn materials with the Local Government Commission as authorized.
