Polk County approves partial abandonment of County Ditch 70 after hearing

Polk County’s Board of Commissioners approved a partial abandonment of County Ditch No. 70 after a formal hearing on June 2.
Polk County Engineer Richard Sanders presented the purpose and procedural history of the ditch hearing. John Kolb of law firm Rinke Noonan reviewed the procedural history; Sanders confirmed notices were mailed to landowners within the benefitted area and that notice had been published on the Polk County website beginning May 5, 2026. There were no public comments or questions during the public-comment portion of the hearing.
The Board opened the hearing at 9:03 a.m., approved the partial abandonment by motion (mover Commissioner Ross Pape, seconded by Commissioner Paul Reese), and closed the hearing at 9:42 a.m. The motions were adopted unanimously.
