The Trenton Planning Commission on March 16 voted to recommend that city council adopt a package of four zoning-text amendments intended to support the Trenton 2050 comprehensive plan.
Staff presented the package, saying the amendments establish two new zoning districts — a Park & Open Space district and a Public Institutional district — and add definitions and updates to the conventional zoning-district list to provide clearer classifications for parks, civic facilities and schools. "Staff finds the proposed amendments are consistent with the goals of the Trenton 2050 comprehensive plan and recommend the planning commission forward a positive recommendation to city council," the presenter said.
Commissioners agreed to combine the four ordinances into a single vote rather than consider them separately. A motion to recommend adoption of the proposed amendments was moved and seconded; roll-call votes recorded unanimous support and the commission will forward the package to city council for consideration.
The commission’s action is a recommendation; city council must consider and adopt any zoning-code amendments for them to take effect.
