Duncan board approves using leftover SRF funds for water-tower maintenance, control panel and park irrigation

The Village of Duncan Board of Trustees approved adding water-tower maintenance, a new treatment-control panel with remote access and a west-park sprinkler line to leftover State Revolving Fund (SRF) grant/loan funding at its June 9 meeting.
Chairperson Gary Schlesinger recommended the additions, saying the changes would keep the SRF package roughly 55% grant and 45% loan and “still provide 55% grant and 45% loan.” He told the board he had spoken with NENEDD about grant opportunities for a replacement tower and that a "typical new tower would cost one million dollars," with NENEDD indicating grant programs could cover about 75% and the Village needing to demonstrate $100,000 in local funds to qualify.
The board voted 4–0 (one member absent) to approve adding the maintenance items to the current SRF financing. Schlesinger said pursuing replacement-tower grants is a separate effort and that staff will continue exploring options.
The decision preserves SRF funds for near-term system needs while allowing the board to consider longer-term tower replacement with outside grant support. The board did not set a timetable for a replacement tower; Schlesinger said he would move forward with grant inquiries.
