Human Resources Director Michelle Shaw presented a bundle of personnel items at the June 9 workshop. The board raised no objections to recruitment or hiring for multiple positions and received informational updates on a transit FTE adjustment.
The board supported refilling a Prevention and Treatment Services School Outreach Officer position vacated May 22, 2026; Community Justice Director Scott Hyde said the role is embedded in local schools, supports prevention education and youth programming, and attracts statewide interest in the County—s model.
Shaw presented approval to hire a certified Parole and Probation Officer (an advanced-position candidate currently serving in Coos County) and a separate interdepartmental transfer into a Parole and Probation Officer role from the Sheriff's Office; Hyde described both candidates as experienced and noted compensation and policy considerations for transfers. The board also had no objection to recruiting a District Attorney Department Specialist to provide front-desk support, discovery processing and scheduling coverage.
Shaw informed the board that a Transit Department position would be reduced from full-time to part-time (1.0 FTE to 0.5 FTE) due to a layoff; that item was informational. A Tax and Accounting Specialist I recruitment in Treasury (PR 26-047) was tabled and no further detail was recorded in the workshop transcript.
