Staff said the proposed paid‑meal increases should help, but the fund may still require a general‑fund transfer in future years if participation or reimbursements change.
Separately, the presenter proposed a $20 monthly increase across BASE rate tiers to improve that program’s finances and discussed session time clarifications. Board members asked staff to model proportionate increases (for five‑day vs partial‑week options) and to recheck utilization assumptions; a motion to table the BASE fee change until the August meeting for additional analysis passed.
The meal price changes were approved by voice vote with no recorded opposition; the BASE fee recommendation was tabled for further staff modeling and brought back to the board.
