Cedar County board approves routine minutes, disbursements, permits and appointments

During its June 9 session the Cedar County Board of Supervisors approved routine items and several appointments and permits.
The board approved the meeting agenda and the minutes of June 2 and June 4, 2026. It approved Claim Disbursements #445790 - #445926 paid on June 4, 2026, and noted a handwritten disbursement (#445927) issued June 5, 2026 to the Cedar County Treasurer for Benefits, Inc. for $4,225.85 for self-funded medical claims.
Supervisor Kaufmann moved and Supervisor Barnhart seconded to appoint Devon Schott to the Cedar County Eminent Domain Commission; the motion passed unanimously. Supervisor Bixler moved and Supervisor Gaul seconded to appoint Todd Sawyer to the same commission; that motion also passed unanimously.
The board renewed a tobacco permit for New Taste of India effective July 1, 2026. The board approved a utility permit for Eastern Iowa Light and Power on Vermont Avenue; the motion passed with Supervisor Bixler recorded as abstaining and a $100 permit fee applies. The minutes also record approval of Mente Farms, Inc. Addition Minor Subdivision and Koutny First Addition Minor Subdivision.
The minutes list several other administrative items: a notice of new hire (Jude Redenbaugh, Paramedic, effective 6/18/2026) and manure management annual updates for two sites. The minutes do not elaborate further on funding sources for these items.
