Duncan trustees hear road-plan comments, departmental reports; approve donation and delegate

At its Sept. 8, 2025 meeting the Village of Duncan Board of Trustees opened a public hearing on the village’s 1- and 6-Year Road Plan, heard a resident complain that a street sweeper left "two-inch deep sand" on 9th Street, approved a $500 donation to the Jingle & Mingle event, confirmed Harry Prososki as the village’s NCG delegate and received departmental updates from utilities, parks and the clerk.
The road-plan public hearing opened at 7:20 p.m.; trustees discussed potential additional streets to pave and Chair Gary Schlesinger said he would investigate other roads that might be added. The hearing closed at 7:28 p.m. with no public testimony recorded beyond the discussion.
During public comment a resident said a recent street-sweeping pass "missed a large section in front of his house on 9th St" and that "there was two-inch deep sand still on [the] street after the sweeper left." Utility Superintendent Doug Michalak said he had the sweeper redo 6th Street earlier and that he would speak with the street-sweeper operator before the next sweep.
P&Z Chair Don Reves presented plans and a flyer for the upcoming Jingle & Mingle event; trustees approved a $500 donation (motion by Nick Wagoner; second by Lance Denbo). Clerk Marianna Evans said Harry Prososki asked to continue as the village’s NCG delegate and the board approved that appointment; Evans told trustees the village pays $100 per year to keep a lottery license active, but the meeting did not identify other dues or obligations tied to NCG.
In departmental reports, Utilities Superintendent Doug Michalak said a valve replacement and performance testing at the 85 well were completed and the well is back online; staff are troubleshooting a lift-station pump that is running continuously; an antenna at the water treatment building was reinstalled; and a mower issue was resolved after replacing a fuel filter. Chair Schlesinger said Columbus Parks donated used park equipment that the village may add to the ballfield and West Park and asked that funding for concrete for picnic-table pole covers be added to next month’s agenda.
The Board also approved payment of the monthly bills and adjourned at 8:10 p.m. The next meeting is scheduled for Oct. 13, 2025, at 7:00 p.m.
