Duncan trustees approve reimbursement to local baseball, adopt road plan and pay monthly bills

The Village of Duncan Board of Trustees approved multiple routine items at its July 14 meeting, including a payment of half an invoice to Duncan Baseball, adoption of the village’s 1 & 6 Year Road Plan and authorization to pay monthly bills.
Clerk Marianna Evans said a discrepancy had arisen over whether the village agreed to pay the full plumbing invoice or half; the minutes show the original agreement was to pay half the cost of parts and fixtures while Schlesinger and another volunteer would install to avoid labor charges. The board approved paying half the invoice in the amount of $218.50 and directed Evans to confirm invoice details with Gillespie before issuing the check.
Trustees also reviewed and approved the 1 & 6 Year Road Plan, with the clerk noting a formal public hearing on the plan is scheduled in September. Utility Superintendent Doug Michalak presented proposed budget items for 2025–26 including PDC ($83,000) for the final phase of street maintenance; crack-seal work estimated at $8,000–$12,000; sewer line TV inspections ($5,000); grease-control for the lagoon ($750 every two years); tractor tires ($1,000); wiper blades ($150); floor mats ($120); and a well valve replacement estimated at $5,000.
Treasurer Michelle Schindel reviewed the monthly bills and the board voted unanimously to pay them on a motion by Trustee Nick Wagoner, seconded by Lance Denbo. With no further business, Chairperson Schlesinger adjourned the meeting at 8:10 p.m.
