Hyannis Area Schools board approves hires, lists vendor payments and discusses $10,000 signing bonus

Kevin Anderson moved, with Bob Meester seconding, to approve the hiring recommendations. The approved hires recorded in the minutes are Nicole Curtis (night cleaner), Jaynie Duffield (Whitman Stop morning van ride), Jessica Leonard (South Whitman Road morning van route) and Kassie Bestol (long-term substitute/data and reporting coordinator). The motion passed with all voting members recorded as aye.
The consent agenda — approved earlier in the meeting — included minutes from prior meetings and bills and claims. The minutes list line-item disbursements including payroll and vendor payments (examples: BMO classified/nonclassified wages $106,222.26; NASB ALICAP Premium $83,712.00; Hudl renewal $10,700.00; PREMA electricity $6,571.53). The consent agenda text also lists fund subtotals: general fund $369,061.80; lunch fund $13,911.07; activity fund $27,979.56. Separately, the disbursement listing concludes with a line that reads "Total Disbursements $361,061.80"; the minutes themselves do not reconcile that total with the fund subtotals.
Administrators reported a successful Glow Ball Golf Tournament fundraiser and continuing progress toward the elementary playground/outdoor play area fundraising goal.
Board members discussed a proposed $10,000 signing bonus to recruit for extreme at-need positions, and they reviewed the school calendar; no motion or formal action on the signing bonus is recorded in the minutes. The board adjourned at 6:34 PM.
