Riley County EMS reports rising calls, active‑violence trainings and receives Mission: Lifeline Bronze award

Riley County EMS delivered a staff update June 15 detailing recent activity, training and awards.
Josh Geary of Riley County EMS said April had 519 calls and May had 525 calls across five stations. Geary highlighted a two‑week active‑violence training exercise that included IMET, Riley County Fire District, Riley County Emergency Management and Riley County Police Department. This year’s exercise extended scenarios through post‑transport reunification with the school district to exercise unified command and reunification protocols.
Geary also said EMS is deploying a shared response application for iPads and phones on July 1 to provide response plans, maps and unit locations; CRG‑produced maps of schools (grant funded) have already been integrated and will help responders find doors and classrooms more quickly.
Finally, Geary announced EMS received the American Heart Association Mission: Lifeline Bronze Award for 2025, citing improvements in identification, treatment and documentation for strokes and STEMIs after 18 months of quality‑assurance work.
Commissioners praised the interagency training, the mapping work with USD 383 and the planned app rollout.
