Hermitage School Board approves $41.4 million preliminary budget and authorizes payments

The Hermitage School District Board of Directors on May 11 approved a proposed preliminary budget of $41,404,000 for the 2026–27 school year and authorized multiple accounts payable lists and capital reserve payments.
Ms. Tomko presented the finance reports dated April 30, 2026, and the board voted to file them for audit. The board approved checks written April 10–May 7 totaling $187,833.95 (checks #87518–#87607), an approval list as of May 11 totaling $873,123.98 (proposed checks #87608–#87686), and Capital Reserve payables of $59,748.00 (proposed check #2597). Each motion passed on unanimous roll call.
The proposed preliminary budget projects a $1,478,295 increase in expenditures (3.70%) and shows revenues, including the use of assigned and unassigned fund balance, matching total expenditures at $41,404,000. The board cited Sections 508, 687, 671 and 672 of the Pennsylvania School Code and Act 1 of Special Session 2006 in placing the budget on public display. The administration and board will continue to evaluate costs and revenue opportunities before final adoption, which is expected before June 30, 2026.
A copy of the proposed preliminary budget will be available for public inspection in the Business Office at 411 North Hermitage Road beginning May 13 for at least 20 days.
