Canal Winchester City Council voted unanimously on June 1 to approve a Community Reinvestment Area (CRA) agreement for the Canal Pointe II development and to adopt a housekeeping ordinance that updates the city's codified ordinances.
Council adopted RES-26-026, which authorizes the city to enter into a CRA agreement with Molto Canal Pointe II, L.L.C., and a related school compensation agreement with the Canal Winchester Local School District under Section 3735.671 of the Ohio Revised Code. Council member Patrick Shea made the motion to adopt the resolution, Alec McLaughlin seconded, and the motion carried with a vote of Yes 7.
Council also adopted ORD-26-010, an ordinance "approving the editing and inclusion of certain ordinances as parts of the various component codes of the codified ordinances of Canal Winchester, Ohio." The motion to adopt was made by Will Bennett, seconded by Richard Moore, and carried 7–0.
Council held second readings for ORD-26-011 (accepting dedication of real property from Lock Pointe Village, LLC for public right-of-way) and ORD-26-012 (approving and adopting the 2027 tax budget) but took no final votes on those items at this meeting.
No additional details about the CRA's financial terms or the school compensation arrangement were provided in the council discussion at this meeting; the resolution summary in the agenda identifies the statutory authority but not dollar amounts or term length. The meeting adjourned to an executive session later in the agenda and returned before adjourning for the evening.
