Village OKs park grant match, pool equipment, contractor payment and claims totaling $267,681.76

The Village of Eagle Board of Trustees on May 5, 2026 acknowledged a Cass County Tourism grant and approved using $5,000 in matching funds to buy soccer/football combination goals east of the municipal pool. The board also approved purchasing two lifeguard stand platforms from Aqua-Chem at $873.00 each, plus shipping, not to exceed $2,500 (motion passed 4–1, with Trustee Surman voting nay on the purchase).

The board approved Change Order No. 1 with Cather & Sons Construction that reduces the Eagle Drive Mill & Overlay Improvements Project by $2,018.38 (motion unanimous) and approved Application for Payment No. 1 to Cather & Sons Construction in the amount of $125,854.12 (motion unanimous). The board also authorized transferring $25,000 from the General Account to the Park Account for the 2026 pool season (motion unanimous).

At the end of the meeting the board approved claims as presented, with the minutes listing approved claims totaling $267,681.76 and approved park claims totaling $204.94. During public comment resident Phyllis Musil (640 S. 4th St.) expressed concern that vehicles parking along 4th Street are blocking access to her driveway after installation of a handicapped parking stall near Eagle Family Dentistry; the minutes note a recently painted red curb has not resolved the problem. Chairperson Hochstein announced the Ollie’s Purpose 5K on June 7, 2026 and Terry Caddy noted the May 12, 2026 Primary Election will be held at the Eagle Fire & Rescue Station and that at least one bay will need clearing the night before for spare tables and chairs.
