The Town of Sharon Municipal Solar Oversight Committee voted 3-0 on May 14, 2026 to recommend that the Town Administrator execute a lease amendment submitted by REC Solar that would update the legal description of the leased premises and acknowledge the company's ownership of two municipal solar project LLCs.
The amendment seeks to replace a design site plan with metes-and-bounds descriptions produced by a recent survey for the Well #5 project. REC Solar provided a draft amendment and asked the committee to recommend it to the Town. Katie Crider, Business Manager for REC Solar, offered a presentation introducing the company, its corporate structure and its role as asset owner and said REC Solar will contract with Solect for monitoring and facility maintenance. Michael Arent, REC Solar's technical manager, was identified to oversee technical operations and performance; Crider will oversee business matters.
Committee member Arnold Wallenstein said the purchase of the Well #5 and Middle School project membership interests from Solect occurred without notice to the Town and recommended that amendment language explicitly acknowledge REC Solar's ownership and its assumption of existing obligations. Arnold Wallenstein volunteered to mark up the draft amendment with appropriate language for a subcommittee review.
A motion to recommend that the Town execute the lease amendment as revised by Wallenstein and acceptable to a subcommittee of Wallenstein and Chair George Aronson was made, seconded and approved by a 3-0 vote. The committee recorded no mover and second by name in the minutes. The committee specified the recommendation is conditional on the insertion of clarification language to be drafted by Wallenstein and approved by the subcommittee.
The next procedural step is for the Town Administrator to consider the committee's recommendation and, as appropriate, forward the amendment to any additional town review or signature process.
