Corry Area Board recognizes student achievements; superintendent reports smaller incoming kindergarten class

At the May 18 meeting the Corry Area Board of School Directors recognized student accomplishments across athletics and the arts and received an enrollment update from district administration.
The 2025/26 High School girls basketball team and coaches were recognized for advancing to the state playoffs for the first time in 22 years; individual players received All-Region and All-District honors. Additional recognitions included Owen Nickerson (qualified for state wrestling), Finley Fourspring (2nd place, 106 lb girls wrestling), Clara Harrington and Joseph Johnson (All-State chorus and band), and Ayden Beckerink (qualified for the state level in SkillUSA CNC Programming).
Superintendent Sheri Yetzer and CAPS Principal Melissa Nuhfer reported kindergarten registration at 78 students for 2026–27, described as a smaller class size consistent with Pennsylvania Department of Education projections; administration will continue to monitor enrollment. Yetzer invited board members to graduation on Thursday, June 4 at 6:00 PM, noting the final decision on indoor or outdoor commencement will depend on weather. Yetzer also noted the softball and baseball teams will compete in District 10 playoffs and five athletes are qualified for state track competitions this week.
The board closed the meeting at 7:50 PM after the updates and recognitions.
