Village of Eagle holds executive session on employee evaluation and approves wage increase to $28 an hour

The Village of Eagle Board of Trustees held an executive session Jan. 20 to discuss the annual evaluation of employee Bryce Belt and, upon returning to open session, approved increasing his wage to $28.00 per hour. Trustee Todd moved the wage increase and Trustee John Surman seconded the motion; the board voted 4-0 in favor.
Earlier in the meeting the board approved several consent items: a Sustaining Level annual membership renewal with Keep Cass County Beautiful for $1,000 (motion by John Surman, second by Todd); closing the Wulf Drive Sewer Project savings account and transferring those funds to the Sewer savings account at Riverstone Bank (motion by John Surman, second by Todd); and authorizing employee Bryce Belt to attend the free Nebraska Excavation Safety Summit in Lincoln on Feb. 25, 2026 (motion by Todd, second by Marcus Hochstein). Each of those motions carried on recorded 4-0 votes.
The board moved into executive session at 7:30 p.m. “to discuss Bryce Belt’s annual evaluation and to protect the reputation of the employee,” according to the minutes. Chairperson Marcus Hochstein announced the board had exited executive session at 7:35 p.m. The meeting adjourned at 7:36 p.m.
