The Enumclaw School Board approved multiple governance and operational items during its May 18 meeting, including resolutions related to school-day waivers, a guaranteed maximum price amendment, construction oversight contracting, a new elementary school name and several policy updates.
Resolutions: The board approved Resolution 11 68 (a 180-school-day waiver for transitional kindergarten), Resolution 11 69 (a 180-school-day waiver for Einpah High School grades 10'12) and Resolution 11 70 (approval of a guaranteed maximum price amendment). The board voted in favor of all three resolutions.
Contracts and procurement: The board approved a special inspections and testing contract for a construction project to ensure materials and construction met applicable standards and codes.
School naming: Following a committee process with more than 250 candidate names and community input, the board voted to name the new elementary school "Evergreen Trail" with the mascot "Trail Blazers." Board members thanked the naming committee and Mr. Beals for leading the process.
Policies and governance: The board conducted first readings on a set of policies (including operating principles and counseling program policy) and approved second readings for policy 18115 (ethical conduct for school directors), policy 3205 (harassment of students prohibited), policy 6570 (property and data management) and policy 6955 (maintenance of facilities records).
Finance and consent items: The board reviewed an internal financial report and approved payroll and vouchers. The consent agenda passed and included personnel actions (a Black Diamond Elementary principal departure and a posted opening), curriculum adoption follow-up, district surplus items (a multi-page list including vehicles, laptops and instruments), donations, a field trip request and the proposed 2026-27 fee schedule.
Voting format: Items were approved by voice vote; the transcript records the motions, seconds and unanimous "Aye" responses but does not include a roll-call tally with member-by-member votes.
