Commissioners open 45-day window for nonprofit proposals to use Golden Meadows property

Commissioners said they want detailed business plans and references from groups that propose to operate the property; Clayton advised that the request be limited to nonprofits for the 45-day period and that the county retain the right to accept or reject any proposal. The commissioners discussed notification and agreed that publishing the intent in the public meeting minutes and contacting known interested parties would provide appropriate notice.
If no acceptable nonprofit proposal is received within the 45 days, staff will return to the board with options for disposition by conventional commercial means. Commissioners asked staff to inform the two known groups and to place any proposals on a regular meeting agenda so the board can review proposals in public.
The board emphasized a desire to move quickly and suggested a firm but short window so the county does not delay disposition; the motion to set a 45-day solicitation period passed and staff said they will contact Project Connect and STOP to explain next steps.
