The Tallmadge City Board of Education on June 17 authorized the treasurer to make year-end appropriation amendments to balance fund appropriations for fiscal year 2026 and adopted temporary appropriations for 2027 at the 2026 level.
Board members said the year-end adjustments are a routine cleanup that reconcile function-and-object line items to reflect actual spending and do not change the district’s overall spending plan. The board also adopted temporary appropriations to legally allow expenditures at the start of the new fiscal year; permanent appropriations must be adopted by law by Sept. 30, when the board will set final spending levels.
Treasurer and staff presenters noted the reports reflect one month left in the fiscal year and that there were no unexpected items in the reconciliation presented to the board. The temporary appropriations measure was described as a short-term measure to allow operations until the board adopts permanent figures in September.
Next steps: the board will receive full fiscal-year-end financial reports in July and will adopt permanent appropriations on or before the statutory deadline in September.
