Tallmadge City Board hires Dustin Boswell as district treasurer

The Tallmadge City Board of Education voted June 17 to hire Dustin Boswell as the district’s treasurer, with the appointment effective Aug. 1, 2026, through July 31, 2029. The board also authorized the board president to sign the negotiated contract and said any pre-transition days worked by Boswell would be paid on a per diem basis.
The hiring followed a search assisted by Summit ESC. “Because Tallmadge is such a well-respected school district in our area, we actually received 10 [applications],” board member Mrs. Pilates said during the meeting, describing interviews that narrowed the field to two finalists before the board made a unanimous decision. Boswell thanked the board and introduced family members in the audience, saying, “I look very forward to being part of the Tallmadge staff here and working with everybody.”
Board members said the treasurer position is one of two hires the board makes directly and that the district received a stronger-than-expected applicant pool. Boswell told the board he has served in Springfield Schools since 2002 and most recently as business manager since 2015; he said he expects a learning curve but is excited to begin the role.
The board’s action moves forward a transition in the central office: the outgoing treasurer’s last day is July 31, and Boswell will spend pre-approved time in transition before officially assuming the position. The contract term and the authorization for the board president to execute it were recorded in the motion the board approved.
Next steps: Boswell will begin transition activities this summer and assume full treasurer responsibilities Aug. 1 under the terms approved by the board.
