The Public Arts and Culture Commission approved a cultural programming grant of $800 on June 16 to support Downtown Stars and Stiltz, a trio of stilt walkers slated to perform at the city’s July 4 Stars and Stripes celebration.
Staff explained the request was for funding two additional performers at $400 each; one performer, Rorie Agston, was present at the meeting. Staff recommended the grant on the condition the performers provide photos after the event for the commission’s records.
Commissioners expressed enthusiasm for the program as a crowd-pleasing element of downtown events; a motion to grant the $800 passed with no recorded opposition. Staff said the performers will appear as part of the July 4 activities and that one performer planned to donate some time in kind.
No follow-up actions beyond obtaining event photos and documenting the programming were assigned.
