BPW awards three-year EHS training and management contract to HSI for $39,876.90

The Zeeland Board of Public Works voted June 9 to award a three-year contract to HSI Workplace Compliance Solutions, Inc. to provide an environmental health and safety (EHS) platform and related services.
According to meeting materials, staff have used GPiLEARN+ for several years and recommended a transition to HSI because HSI offers additional utilities including incident management tracking, SDS (safety data sheet) management, an interactive EHS learning platform and legacy data migration services. The proposed three-year cost is $39,876.90, with year-one cost of $14,762.30 and years two and three at $12,557.30 each. Staff estimated the three-year cost represents approximately $18,713 in savings compared with the most recent GPiLEARN+ proposal.
The City’s Clean Water Department will participate and cover its proportionate share of costs; the Board directed the expense be allocated across Electric and Water Department O&M budgets based on employee registration. The Board approved the contract on a motion by Commissioner Walters, seconded by Commissioner Cooney; the motion carried with all voting aye.
Staff said the HSI platform offers expanded compliance tracking and reporting features that better match evolving safety needs. The Board authorized the three-year agreement as presented.
