Bolton Heritage Farm Commission orders memorial bench, notes grant application and finalizes winter events

The Bolton Heritage Farm Commission on Nov. 3 approved minutes with corrections, agreed to the placement of a memorial bench for the late Hope Grunske, and reviewed plans for upcoming seasonal events and a museum display grant.
Chairman Arlene Fiano opened the meeting at 6:06 P.M. Treasurer Cara Wraight moved to approve the Sept. 8 minutes with a correction to the Sleighbells Ring workshops item; Ann Maulucci seconded and two members (Leslie Shea and Rhea Klein) abstained due to absence. Building and grounds supervisor John Butrymovich reported his crew is busy mowing and said the memorial bench and plaque for Hope Grunske have been ordered. The family requested the bench be placed in the upper field, and the Commission agreed with that location; Cara Wraight will send a thank-you note to Jim Grunske regarding the bench order.
The Commission said a grant application requesting funds for a climate-controlled display case for Digging for History artifacts has been submitted to the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving and is pending approval. No further fiscal updates to Bolton Heritage Farm (BHF) accounts were reported at the meeting.
Members confirmed Festival of Trees will run Dec. 5–6, 2025, with set-up scheduled Dec. 1 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and tree takedown planned for Dec. 7 or 8. Commissioners also agreed to convene pre-fair workshops to prepare merchandise for the Sleighbells Ring Faire, including boxwood trees, swags, wreaths and arrangements; volunteers and commissioners will collect materials and determine what additional supplies are needed. Cara Wraight said she will send a thank-you note to Nancy Masters for donating boxwood to be used in sale items.
Looking further ahead, the Commission set the Living History weekend for the town's 250th celebration for the last weekend in September 2026; planned activities include camping, period cooking demonstrations and musket demonstrations. The commission discussed scheduling and publicity for those events.
