Bradford accepts $6,500 berm‑removal bid, approves routine warrants; cistern abandonment permitted by USDA

On contracts, the board noted a single berm‑removal bid from Hanson & Son for $6,500; Chair Edward Nevells moved to accept the Hanson & Son bid, Levi Surette seconded, and the board approved the contract 3‑0.
The board also heard a cistern update: the USDA has permitted abandoning the cistern system without penalty but requires removal of visible sprinkler components and Fire Marshal approval. Select Board member Edward Nevells asked that the board revisit the decision when a full board is present to confirm that abandoning the system is the desired option.
Staff raised the Recreation Department’s need for a 501(c)(3) entity so it can receive grants; the board tabled a decision on that matter to a future meeting. The board also reviewed cemetery mowing estimates (quoted at $41,000 for two years) and tabled mowing contracts and roadside mowing bids until another meeting.
The meeting ended with procedural items, requests for a bicentennial committee and adjournment at 7:32 p.m.
