Elmwood approves park fixtures, mower service, storm-drain cleanup and hires part-time help; brush pile relocation tabled

At the Sept. 10 meeting the Village of Elmwood Board approved several operational and maintenance items intended to support parks and public works.
Trustees approved Heather Scott’s motion to purchase one changing table and two toilet-paper dispensers for the park bathrooms, not to exceed $924. The board also accepted a $923.44 bid from Akers for mower service and mulcher installation.
The board approved a motion to authorize up to $7,000 for the fire department to clean storm drains and culverts; Tony Greise will coordinate the work in sections across the town. Members discussed a proposal to relocate the community brush pile—which included tree removal and construction of a rock access road with storm drainage—and raised concerns about past misuse. The brush-pile relocation was tabled pending cost estimates and exploration of gated access options.
The board approved hiring year-round part-time help, with an advertised position of 20–25 hours per week at $20 per hour. The clerk will place an ad to recruit candidates.
Committee reports added that a KCCB bench will be installed in the park next week, several park trees need removal and the water department will perform annual hydrant pressure and flow testing. Planning and Library committee meeting dates were announced.
