Jessie Swick was elected board president at the Wheeler Central Board of Education regular meeting on Jan. 12, 2026. The vote to elect Swick followed a nomination by board member Zach Wright and a motion to cease nominations by Drew Kasselder.
The board also elected Drew Kasselder as vice president, Zach Wright as treasurer and Andrew Smith as secretary. Each election was confirmed by roll call vote with the members present voting in favor, and Wright was later recorded as abstaining only on a separate bank-signatory vote. The board then assigned members to standing subcommittees, naming members for the executive, budget/finance/negotiations, facilities and building, transportation, CWC Coop, preschool/early childhood and policy/curriculum/Americanism/strategic planning committees.
The officers and committee appointments set the board’s governance roles for the year and enable those members to represent the board on matters specific to each committee. The meeting minutes list the board members present as Andrew Smith, Dennis Derner, Jessie Swick, Zach Wright, Drew Kasselder and Sydney McKay; Superintendent Dan Kluver, Principal Makayla Reiter and Board Clerk Andrea Pelster were also present.
No substantive debate about the nominations or committee assignments is recorded in the minutes; motions were made and approved by roll call votes during the meeting. The board adjourned at 8:40 p.m.
