Residents press Oak Brook Park District on registration access and propose options for Fordon Horse Barn

During the public-comment portion of the Oak Brook Park District board meeting on May 19, residents raised concerns and suggestions for district programs and historic property.
Resident Perri Miologos‑Otil asked the board to ensure a balanced approach to classes and programs and requested reminders and priority access for resident registration; President Knitter stated residents have a two‑week advance registration period before nonresidents. Alan Koren, president of the Saddle Brook Homeowners Association, suggested relocating the horse barn near Graue Mill and staffing a docent for public tours. Board members said the primary obstacle to any rehabilitation, relocation or repurposing is securing funding. Don Adler requested additional financial analysis related to the Park District’s intergovernmental agreement with School District 53.
Executive Director Laure Kosey said staff are evaluating options for the Fordon Horse Barn, including an archaeological review, relocation, removal or repurposing, and that survey and financial results will be shared when available.
