Wilcox trustees approve claims, accept street-repair bids and authorize legal steps on two properties

At its May 13 meeting the Village of Wilcox Board of Trustees approved payroll and claims, accepted Figgins Construction proposals for $46,437.15 in street repairs, approved several building permits, authorized lien proceedings on two Franklin Street properties and hired summer help.
The Village of Wilcox Board of Trustees met May 13, 2025, and approved routine financial items, multiple permit actions and several operational items affecting village property and services.
Trustee Nash moved, and Trustee Adam seconded, to approve the treasurer’s report and the minutes of April 8; the motion carried with all voting in favor. Clerk Melinda Ferree presented the list of claims, which included a $13,056.92 invoice to NPPD and a $6,500.00 charge from Newman Tree Service; Trustee Adam moved to approve all claims, Trustee Nash seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
On permits, the board approved building permit applications #408 (R. Gellermann — garage), #410 (E. Wilson Construction for B&R Rentals — three-sided dumpster screening fence), and #412 (S. Woollen — shop addition). Trustee Adam moved to approve those permits; Trustee Nash seconded and the motion carried. The board tabled permits #409 (Z. Rehtus — fence) and #411 (D. Vairy — house addition) pending additional property-line or application information.
The board authorized its attorney to schedule a court hearing to establish the amount of a lien on 305 and 309 E. Franklin St. and was authorized to make an offer to purchase the property. Separately, the minutes note a vicious-dog case has been filed with service to the owner set for May 14, 2025.
Trustee Nash moved to hire G. Henery as summer help; Trustee Adam seconded and the motion carried unanimously. The board also discussed requesting the county relocate a county shed on Evertt St. to a truck parking area and decided Trustee B. Johnson will contact the County Road Department. The village discussed RVs being lived in within town and will send a letter directing the resident to move the RVs within seven days of school being out.
On infrastructure, the board reviewed proposals from Figgins Construction for streets to be repaired this summer with a total proposal cost of $46,437.15. Trustee Nash moved to accept Figgins Construction’s proposals; Trustee Norman seconded and the motion carried. The proposals were signed by Chairman Brad Gardels.
The board discussed pricing a Noxon St. lot for home construction and decided to have that lot appraised by the June 10 meeting. The meeting was then adjourned; minutes were attested by Village Clerk Melinda Ferree and approved by Chairman Brad Gardels.
