Catskill trustees approve audited bills, amend budget and appoint code enforcement officer; public comments include event closure requests

The Village of Catskill Board approved routine financial and personnel items at its May 27 meeting and heard a range of public comments.
The Board voted to approve payment of audited bills for May 27, 2026 covering General Fund A $219,255.25, Water Fund F $61,323.34 and Sewer Fund G $16,546.56. The motion was made by President Natasha Law and seconded by Trustee Peter Grasse; Trustee Jamie Mitchell abstained from that vote. Earlier in the meeting Trustee Peter Grasse moved and Trustee Thomas Boomhower seconded approval of the May 13, 2026 minutes; that motion passed unanimously.
The Board unanimously appointed Bruce Haeussler as Code Enforcement Officer effective June 22, 2026 (motion by Trustee Peter Grasse, seconded by Trustee Jamie Mitchell). The Board adopted Budget Amendment Resolution 18 of 2026 to adjust the General Fund appropriations and revenues by $2,200 (debit to Fire Department operating expense 3410.4.000.5 A and corresponding increase to State Grant-other account 3089.05 A); the Treasurer’s office determined the amendment does not change the tax levy.
During public comment DPW Superintendent Craig Rowell updated the Board on work at Union and Brandow's Alley and on coverage for Spring Rush. Ed Dupont requested closing North St. for an Aug. 22 event at the Cus D'Amato gym from the gym toward the senior center; the specific closure details and final approvals were not recorded. Jesse Moore of 380 Main St. presented plans for a fence on a retaining wall; the Board members indicated support for the design and approved installation to proceed. Elliott Matos described a recurring self-defense class twice a week and asked about whether a special election will be held to fill Dan Ward's seat and who was notified about approved DRI projects; the minutes record the questions but do not include an answer regarding the special election or the list of notified parties.
On a motion by Trustee Jamie Mitchell, seconded by Trustee Thomas Boomhower, the Board entered executive session at 8:06 P.M. to discuss personnel matters. The Board adjourned the meeting at 8:49 P.M. The minutes were recorded and signed by Village Clerk Anna Signoretti and were approved for signature on June 13, 2026.
