Wymore awards $872,791 CDBG water contract and authorizes grid resiliency planning

The Wymore City Council on April 15 accepted Van Kirk Brothers Contracting’s bid of $872,791.30 for a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) water project and authorized Mayor Collin Meints to sign the contract. City Superintendent Tim Sedlacek said three bids were received and engineering firm JEO recommended Van Kirk.
Council also authorized JEO to begin planning work on a Grid Resiliency Project and approved signing related service-agreement documents for $241,454.00. Sedlacek told the council that, if the service agreement is signed, JEO would start planning and the project is expected to go out for competitive bids in January 2027.
Separately, council discussed using DocuSign for work with JEO and approved allowing the firm to use electronic signatures on documents.
The decisions were unanimous. The council did not provide a cost estimate for demolition work discussed elsewhere on the agenda; bids will be solicited where appropriate. The next procedural step for the grid resiliency project is execution of the service agreement with JEO and subsequent public procurement for construction bids.
