City reviews library roof damage and funding options; Wisner Care Center introduces new DON

City Administrator Randy Woldt presented photographs to the council on May 4 showing deterioration at the public library roof and said Otte Construction needs to tear into the roof to determine the full extent of rot and repair costs.
"I do not have any totals as Otte Constructions was not sure until he tore into more to see how bad the roof was rotting," Woldt said. He suggested library funds should be used for repairs if available but noted that sales-tax infrastructure funds could be used if library funds are insufficient. The council did not take action to authorize repairs at the May 4 meeting.
During communications, Care Center Administrator Sammye Nyman said the Care Center held a meeting the previous Friday and introduced the new Director of Nursing, Miles. Nyman and Miles discussed outreach and advertising to increase the Care Center census; Miles asked whether additional advertising in the local paper could help draw residents.
Nyman said the Care Center already advertises highlights of events at the facility and would continue outreach to boost census. No expenditures for advertising or operational changes were approved at the meeting.
