Wisner council approves consent agenda, orders compaction container, sets cleanup week and Arbor Day

At its April 6 meeting the Wisner City Council approved a consent agenda that included March payables and payroll, authorized purchase of a $19,314.28 compaction container, set city-wide cleanup week for April 18–25, and proclaimed April 24 as Arbor Day.
The Wisner City Council approved its consent agenda at a regular meeting on April 6, 2026, including itemized payables and payroll for the Wisner Care Center, the City of Wisner and the Wisner City/Rural Fire Board.
Council approved the consent agenda on a motion by Councilman Barry Meyer, seconded by LJ Parker. The minutes list Care Center payables and related payroll with a grant total of $227,740.32; city payables and related payroll totaling $500,403.56; and City/Rural Fire Board payables of $11,431.47. The clerk was directed to publish the claims and keep itemized accounts on file for public inspection.
Council also approved a $19,314.28 purchase of a compaction container after City Administrator Randy Woldt said one dump box was rusting and increasingly difficult to repair. The motion to buy the container was moved by Meyer and seconded by Andrew Schweers; roll call recorded Ayes from Parker, Schweers, Meyer and Gobar and the motion carried.
The council approved a city-wide cleanup week for April 18 through April 25. Administrator Woldt said the program will accept furniture and appliances but will not include tires or construction waste. The cleanup week was approved on a motion by Cathy Gobar, seconded by LJ Parker; the motion carried.
Mayor Terry Soden read an Arbor Day proclamation and the council approved setting Arbor Day in Wisner on April 24, 2026. That action was approved on a motion by Meyer, seconded by Schweers. The meeting adjourned to its next regular session on April 20, 2026.
