Chief of Police Doug Salmen presented the monthly police activities report at the March 16 meeting and praised staff support during the recent St. Patrick’s Day celebration.
"It was really nice now that they have radios that work," Salmen said, noting that radios and repeaters are installed and functioning and that officers were able to communicate well during the parade. Councilman Andrew Schweers asked whether Officer Cody Lanagan’s patrol car was complete; Lanagan said it was, and Salmen confirmed completion.
The council did not record specific statistics or calls-for-service in the minutes. The police chief thanked city staff for their assistance during the event and highlighted improved communications capability with the new radio system.
